IRANIAN AMERICAN CIVIC Society formerly known as; HOUSE Of IRAN (HOI) was established in 1994 in Mclean Virginia by a group a new Iranian Americans establishing in Washington DC. Since then this non profit organization made up of volunteers from all across the Washington metro and few other states have managed to accomplish more with the least of resources. Some of the sample projects and accomplishments are listed below;
· Operated as a cultural and relief organization in support of a newly established Iranian American community in the Washington DC Metro ,helping with social relief services · Organizing large area cultural events for new year and Seezdah Bedar · Supported relief efforts overseas for flood and earthquake victims · Guidance with medical and prescription needs for low income individuals through participating local physicians · Major cancer fundraising for local cancer victims · Official sponsor of voter registration and election forums · Conducted official workshops to support citizenship applications and forums · Census 2000 official partner · Senior citizen educational workshops · Community Sporting events · Schools and infirmaries for flood and Earthquake victims · Environmental Cleanup day by Volunteers at the Black hill Lake State Park · Joint cultural events with Public university student groups
Bylaws and the board;
Our board members are selected based on community achievements and service. These distinguished members of the community will help advise us in our path forward. Our bylaws are periodically reviewed to ensure compliance with the mission of our organization and ever changing needs of the communities we provide services for. |
